It’s the holiday time of year where we are serving appetizers up to family and friends. Candy Cane Charcuterie is the festive way to serve up some pepperoni, salami, and fresh mozzarella. Charcuterie the shape of a candy cane.
This is so simple and festive to put together for the holidays. This charcuterie is easy to make you just need a board large enough to display it. Here I used a slate cheese board to display the candy cane on.
You can use bamboo or a nice long piece of wood sealed in beeswax. Whichever board you choose just make sure it’s long enough to display a shape of a candy cane.
The trick to this is all about the layering of the salami and pepperoni. You can layer more than one or two pieces like shown here. I did this and layered a few slices per section.
The second tip is to tuck the basil under the slices or in between the slices of meat. This allows for the basil to stay in place. I additionally serve crostini on the side in a wreath shape.
I get a log of fresh mozzarella pre sliced. Fresh mozzarella is hard to slice perfectly so I like the pre sliced however, use whatever fresh mozzarella you can find. I find mine at Sprouts or Central Market.
Candy Cane Charcuterie is so simple to layer and dress up with basil and tomatoes. Use any tomatoes from cherry tomatoes to grape tomatoes either will work sliced thinly. Great for topping on crostini with meats and cheese.
This charcuterie is great for a holiday party appetizer. I usually just bring my board and everything in a bag. I set it up quickly in the kitchen and serve. It’s not easy to transport already together.
