What I love about making these as a family is you can use different shapes. The rice krispie treats can also be decorated with icing. That’s the fun of the heart holiday treats!

Cut them out as hearts like we have above or use trees, snowman, stars, and so much more! I love to do them as moose too! I love the moose or fox cookie cutters. Really the possibilities are endless.

The key is to use a big enough pot to hold the rice krispies. I actually used a dutch oven to make my treats. The reason for the dutch oven is that the marshmallow sticks a little less in it then a traditional stainless steel pot.

Stirring the Rise Krispie Treats:

After mixing the butter and marshmallows the rice krispie holiday colored cereal is added. After adding the cereal you have to stir like mad to make sure they all get coated.

Press the treat mixture into a baking dish. Doing this allows them to cool then you can cut the treats the way you’d like. They can be cut into the hearts or even just simple squares. Usually I just make them half the height of the baking dish.

I cut out the hearts then I use the excess to roll into little rice krispie balls. I don’t like to let food go to waste. No matter the shape everyone will eat them!
