With Easter just around the corner I have a totally fun project that I did with my Christmas tree. I decided to not put it up this year. We don’t have the places we used to to decorate so Menya and I decided to find something to decorate. We did have a Mardi Gras tree but since moved on and are now working with the DIY Easter tree.
Most of what we got to put on it came from Dollar Tree from the garland to the foam glittered eggs. One item didn’t and that is the super adorable pin wheels.
The pin wheels are made from scrapbook paper. The scrap booking paper has an Easter print on one side. All it takes is the paper, scissors, lollipop sticks, and sewing pins.
- Easter paper
- Sewing hem pins
- Lollipop sticks
Simply cut the Easter paper into squares. Then cut the four corners coming down toward the center. You can use the template picture below to follow how to cut them.
Once you are finished cutting just pull the top left corner down to the center. Repeat the process for each cut V area. You will see the pinwheel start to form. Using a sewing hem pin stick the through the center and bend the pin. You can now stick the pen into a lollipop stick for easy placing on the tree.
We added two different styles of the Easter garland to the Easter tree. After placing the garland on the tree we hung the decorative Easter eggs we bought. Making sure not to place two of the same colors next to each other.
Once those were on with the silver ornament balls we filled the rest of the Easter Tree in with plenty of cute pinwheels.
Pretty cute overall! Now on to planning our Summer 4th of July tree. Would you consider doing this year round to your tree?
