Cast Iron Bacon Cheeseburger
Well it looks like the first day of summer is almost here. Are you ready for it? The heat is what I’m not ready for. However, it’s grilling season so that’s definitely up my alley. If you don’t have a grill this Cast Iron Bacon Cheeseburger is fantastic way to get your grill on indoors. Topped with bacon, cheese, tomato, and lettuce this burger will melt in you mouth.

The Art Of Cast Iron Cooking:
I will be the first to admit that when cooking in a cast iron for the first time burning food and not having it done in the center was quite common. One of the most common mistakes is not heating up the cast iron before cooking on it. Give the cast iron valid time to heat up.

After letting the cast iron skillet heat up for about 5 minutes it’s time to start cooking. Set the temperature to a low. Almost all things cooked in a cast iron are between the 2 and the 4. If you plan to fry foods then used a digital fry thermometer as it really helps to adjust the heat.

Cooking To Temp:
The key is to cook the burgers lower and slower so you receive a nice crispy grilled like burger. The markings come from the cast iron grill pan. Cook for a few minutes and flip repeat until desired temperature.

An instant-read meat thermometer ensures perfectly cooked hamburger patties. A beef, veal, lamb, or pork burger cooked to 160°F, regardless of color, is safe. (Ground turkey or chicken burgers must be cooked to 165°F.) If the beef has been mixed with eggs or other ingredients, grill the burgers to 165°F.

The bacon can be made in the oven while the cast iron bacon cheeseburger is cooking. Baking bacon at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes allows for easy cooked bacon. To go along with the burgers we will make macaroni salad sometimes the day before so it’s easy dinner.
